Intergalactic Language Mercenaries was written in 1992, when artificial intelligence was still something that tried to kill people in science-fiction movies. The story, characters, and original text predate generative AI by decades.
The 2026 version is named Intergalactic Language Mercenary to distinguish it from the original. I corrected spelling and grammar. Technological wonders such as spell check were not widely available in the Permian era. I also clarified a few passages and added dialogue to improve the audiobook.
